Amid a political storm, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma leveled serious allegations against Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi, accusing him of posing critical questions on defence matters in Parliament after marrying a British citizen. The opposition leader has firmly dismissed these claims as 'false accusations.'
Sarma's comments, echoed by BJP spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia, suggest that Gogoi's wife, a foreign national, allegedly has connections with Pakistan and the ISI, a claim the MP finds 'laughable and entertaining.' Gogoi rebutted these accusations by referring to previous smear campaigns against him by the BJP.
The chief minister emphasized national security concerns, questioning the MP's interactions with Pakistani officials and his query focus on sensitive defence issues. Meanwhile, Gogoi remains resolute in addressing pressing state issues like unemployment and inflation, asserting faith in the democratic process.
