The Kuki-Zo MLAs from Manipur are calling on the central government to establish a comprehensive political roadmap to restore peace and justice in the region. This request follows the recent imposition of President's rule amid ongoing ethnic violence.
In a united statement, 10 MLAs, including seven from the BJP, emphasized the need for quick action to relieve those impacted by the clashes and internal displacement. They expressed optimism in the government’s approach under suspended animation of the state assembly.
The ethnic conflict, which erupted in May 2023, has primarily involved the Meitei community and Kuki-Zo tribal groups, leading to over 250 deaths and thousands of displacements. The MLAs aim for a negotiated political solution to end this turmoil.
