The Congress party has launched a scathing attack on the NDA government at the national level and the BJP dispensation in Odisha, following alarming reports of more than 36,000 women and 8,400 children missing in the state.
Addressing the media, Ajay Kumar Lallu, the newly appointed AICC in-charge of Odisha, raised serious questions about the rampant human trafficking problem in the state. Lallu cited information provided by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi in the state assembly, revealing that 36,420 women and 8,404 children went missing from 2020 to 2024. "What is the home ministry doing? Is the union home minister sleeping?" he questioned.
The Congress also accused the state of neglecting the rights of tribals, Dalits, and backward classes, while exploiting natural and mineral resources. Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee president Bhakta Charan Das vowed to act as a strong opposition, emphasizing the party's commitment to fight for people's rights despite lacking the financial power of the BJP and BJD.
