Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has presented an ambitious state budget for the fiscal year 2025-26, detailing plans to transform Odisha into a developed state by 2036. The budget's core focus areas include infrastructure, urban development, agriculture, irrigation, capital investment, industrialization, and sports.
Majhi emphasized Odisha's commitment to enhancing public service delivery systems including education, healthcare, and social security, with particular attention to the development of Scheduled Tribes and Scheduled Castes, as well as women and children. A significant highlight is the proposal to establish the Odisha Highways Authority aimed at advancing highway and expressway constructions.
The state aims to become self-reliant in fish, milk, and egg production to boost the income of small farmers and sustain nutritional needs. Additionally, the budget plans to increase the MLALAD funds from Rs 3 crore to Rs 5 crore per constituency, prioritizing community needs and local development.
