A political uproar has engulfed Nepal following the unexpected display of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's photographs at a pro-monarchist rally organized in honor of former King Gyanendra Shah.
The rally, which saw a turnout of hundreds of supporters, aimed at calling for the restoration of Nepal's monarchy, abolished in 2008. As participants chanted outside Tribhuvan International Airport, images of Adityanath with Gyanendra sparked immediate criticism from various political factions and the public via social media.
The RPP spokesperson, Gyanendra Shahi, accused the government of infiltration, alleging the placement of Adityanath's photo was a ploy by the K P Oli-led administration to tarnish the monarchist movement. In response, advisor Bishnu Rimal dismissed the claims, labeling them as baseless disinformation. Despite the controversy, loyalists continue to advocate for the monarchy's revival.
