The political landscape in Haryana was charged as the BJP and Congress locked horns over the controversial Dadupur Nalvi canal project during an assembly session. Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini clarified that no high court order existed for reconstructing the canal, which was scrapped under his government.

Congress MLA Nirmal Singh raised concerns about the canal's potential to boost groundwater levels, lamenting its cancellation by the BJP government a few years ago. Despite appeals for clarity, the ruling party remained non-committal, prompting Congress members to stage a protest walkout.

In response to the high court's earlier ruling against denotifying the acquired land, Haryana plans to file a Special Leave Petition with the Supreme Court. Meanwhile, the opposition has criticized the government for what it terms an ill-prepared stance on the canal's future.
