In a move that has sparked political controversy, Congress leaders in Telangana have called for the suspension of opposition leader K Chandrasekhar Rao's salary. Their request, submitted to Legislative Assembly Speaker G Prasad Kumar, claims Rao's absence from Assembly sessions undermines the responsibilities expected from elected officials.

The Congress leaders, led by Daripally Raja Shekar Reddy, argued that since taxpayers fund the salaries of public representatives, they are right to expect diligent service in return. The submission comes as the budget session is about to commence, highlighting Rao's apparent neglect of his opposition duties.

K Chandrasekhar Rao, also known as KCR, has faced criticism from Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and other Congress figures for not attending legislative sessions since the Congress took office in December 2023. The Congress demands financial accountability, urging Rao to fulfill his legislative duties as a condition for receiving his salary.
