In a strong show of dissent, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will stage a demonstration outside the Himachal Pradesh Assembly in Shimla. Scheduled for Thursday, the protest is set to challenge the 'mafia raj' supposedly burgeoning under the current administration.
Accusations are flying from BJP state chief Rajiv Bindal, who claims that under the Congress-led state government, criminal activities have surged, including concerning incidents such as the brutal murder of a Dalit youth in Chamba. Bindal criticizes the government for allegedly letting the state descend into disorder.
The BJP also targets the government's economic policies, condemning rising prices amid claims that the 'chitta' (adulterated heroin) mafia is expanding. The protest is anticipated to draw thousands of party workers, voicing discontent with both the administration's alleged failings and rising crime rates.
