In a scathing critique of the BJP administration, Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav condemned the eight-year governance of Uttar Pradesh under BJP, accusing it of stifling Kannauj's progress. Yadav underscored issues of corruption, pointing to an incident involving an IAS officer under police scrutiny.
Yadav slammed the government's transparency, labeling this regime as the first where legislators openly demand reforms. He criticized its evasive stance towards media inquiries, arguing it skirts accountability. Meanwhile, Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya lauded the government for its transformative impact, rebuffing claims of administrative failures.
Maurya praised the BJP's governance, stating they've turned Uttar Pradesh from a haven for lawlessness to a model of development. He also dismissed demonstrations against the Waqf Bill as orchestrated by opposition entities. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath highlighted improvements since BJP's 2017 victory, marking a shift from previous governance issues.
