Actor and political leader Vijay declared that the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections would be unprecedented, predicting a showdown between his new party, the Tamizhaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), and the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK).
In the party's inaugural General Council, Vijay criticized the DMK for fostering dynasty politics and voiced opposition to the BJP-led central government's policies, including the Waqf Bill and the delimitation exercise, which he argued would diminish Tamil Nadu's political influence.
Vijay pledged support for working-class citizens and environmental stewardship. He asserted the DMK's alliance with the BJP as self-serving and accused the central government of overlooking Tamil Nadu's needs, vowing that a TVK-led government would deliver true governance for the people.
