In diplomatic efforts to manage escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar reached out to key international counterparts. He held discussions with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas on Thursday.
Amidst heightened tensions following India's recent anti-terrorism operations and Pakistan's retaliatory strategies, Jaishankar communicated India's resolve to counter terrorism while urging for de-escalation. A social media post from Jaishankar highlighted India's commitment to targeted, measured responses to cross-border threats.
US State Department Spokesperson Tammy Bruce noted that Rubio emphasized immediate diplomatic engagement between India and Pakistan. Meanwhile, the European Union echoed calls for restraint and renewed dialogue to mitigate risks and avoid further loss of civilian lives.
