Alongside Joseph, key figures such as P C Vishnunath MLA, Shafi Parambil MP, and A P Anil Kumar MLA took up their roles as working presidents, while Adoor Prakash MP became the UDF convener. The transition occurred amidst anticipation ahead of upcoming local and state elections. Sunny Joseph's inaugural tasks included seeking guidance and support from Congress stalwart A K Antony.

Despite some internal disagreement over the leadership change, the Congress's central leadership is optimistic. Veteran leader A K Antony expressed full confidence in Joseph's team, emphasizing the importance of securing broad public trust.
