In a development that has political circles buzzing, Shiv Sena minister Uday Samant recently met with Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) president Raj Thackeray. The meeting occurred alongside ongoing speculation of a reconciliation between MNS chief Raj Thackeray and his estranged cousin, Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Uddhav Thackeray.
The engagement unfolded ahead of pivotal civic elections in Mumbai and throughout Maharashtra. Despite the timing, Samant maintains that the meeting was devoid of any political discussions. Instead, he cited official duties in Dadar, the area where Raj Thackeray resides, as the reason for the visit.
Amid nearly two decades of strained relationships, recent comments from both Raj and Uddhav hinted at a willingness to overlook past conflicts in favor of unity for the Marathi-speaking community. However, tensions remain concerning alliances with the BJP and the Shinde-led Shiv Sena, as they vie for MNS's support in the forthcoming elections.
