AAP candidate Sanjeev Arora is on the verge of victory in the Ludhiana West assembly bypoll, leading by over 7,000 votes against his main competitor, Congress candidate Bharat Bhushan Ashu, based on early trends.
Arora maintained an overall lead throughout, despite Ashu narrowing the gap in the fourth, fifth, and sixth rounds. The bypoll was necessitated by the passing of AAP MLA Gurpreet Bassi Gogi.
Voter turnout stood at 51.33%, a decrease from the 64% recorded in the 2022 state elections. The bypoll serves as a crucial test for Punjab's newly elected AAP government under Bhagwant Mann.
