Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha, Mallikarjun Kharge, has expressed strong objections to the presence of security personnel in the House, stating this prevents opposition MPs from raising pressing issues.
In a letter addressed to the Rajya Sabha deputy chairman Harivansh, Kharge indicated his astonishment at witnessing CISF personnel in the House while MPs were exerting their democratic rights. He condemned these actions as diminishing the stature of Parliament.
Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh shared Kharge's letter, highlighting these 'shocking' developments. The tense atmosphere saw MPs from TMC and DMK trying to enter the well of the House only to be deterred by security, escalating tensions further.
