In the wake of a tragic incident involving a 15-year-old girl from Puri, Odisha's Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida has expressed her readiness to resign if such a gesture could restore the child's life. The girl, who suffered over 70 percent burns, died despite extensive medical efforts.

Parida's comments came in response to opposition demands for her resignation from her Nimapara constituency. After attending the girl's funeral, Parida emphasized her commitment to avoiding political manipulations in this sensitive matter. The state government, she noted, took comprehensive measures, including airlifting the girl to AIIMS-Delhi for specialized treatment.

The police investigation concluded no one else was involved in the incident, and the girl was reportedly under mental pressure. As tensions rose, Youth Congress members clashed with security at the Chief Minister's residence, leading to arrests.
