In a significant political maneuver, Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy called on political parties in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh to back former Supreme Court Judge B Sudershan Reddy in the vice-presidential elections. Citing 'Telugu pride', Reddy emphasized the necessity of Telugu representation and urged MPs to vote for the candidate.
Describing Justice Reddy as 'non-political and non-controversial', the Chief Minister depicted the candidacy as an opportunity for Telugu people to elect one of their own to the esteemed office. He urged major political factions like TDP, BRS, YSRCP, Janasena, and AIMIM to ensure Justice Reddy's victory.
Highlighting the election as a battle between constitutional preservation and its undermining, CM Reddy took the opportunity to criticize BJP's J P Nadda for his remarks on historical policies. The discussion encompassed broader themes such as reservation rights and safeguarding democratic processes.
