China has expressed surprise at a clarification from India regarding recent comments by Indian External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on the One-China policy. The statement came after Jaishankar's reported comments during talks with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi.
India reiterated its consistent stance on the matter, emphasizing its economic, technological, and cultural links with Taiwan. China's Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Mao Ning, reacted by stating that such remarks contradict facts and imply a threat to China's sovereignty over Taiwan.
China urged India to adhere to the One-China principle while India has focused on maintaining its robust trade relations with Taiwan, without formal diplomatic ties. Taiwan, a significant producer of semiconductors, remains at the center of these diplomatic tensions.
