Shinde Gears Up for Mumbai Civic Polls with Strategic Directives

Ahead of the Mumbai civic body polls, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde urges former Shiv Sena corporators to showcase their achievements to voters. With the Supreme Court mandating elections by January 2026, Shinde aims to consolidate his faction's influence over the city.

Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has called upon former Shiv Sena corporators to highlight their accomplishments in the lead-up to the Mumbai civic body elections. Addressing them at Nariman Point, Shinde emphasized the need to communicate the party's work effectively to voters.

The meeting, attended by MLA Nilesh Rane and former Lok Sabha MP Rahul Shewale, occurred in the context of the Supreme Court's direction to the State Election Commission to conduct local body polls by January 31, 2026. This move seeks to ensure electoral preparedness.

Following the split of the Shiv Sena, over 50 of the 82 former corporators joined Shinde's faction. The upcoming Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation polls are pivotal for Shinde to establish his dominance in Mumbai against the rival Shiv Sena (UBT) faction.
