In a recent development, Karnataka Congress MLA B R Patil has criticized the Election Commission for its handling of the voter deletion controversy in Aland. Speaking to reporters, Patil accused the EC of providing evasive and inadequate responses to the allegations of fraud in the deletion of 6,018 voters during the 2023 state assembly elections.
The MLA claimed that a systematic conspiracy had been orchestrated to decrease his chances of winning by filing fraudulent voter deletion applications through automated software. Despite the EC's assertion that no deletions were performed online by the public, Patil highlighted instances where EPIC numbers were misused for deletions within minutes.
Patil urges the Election Commission to cooperate fully with the ongoing Special Investigation Team probe to ensure transparency. The Congress leader has also suggested that the party should consider further actions, including legal battles, to address the issue if satisfactory responses are not provided.
