The Kerala Assembly descended into chaos on Monday as dramatic scenes unfolded with the Congress-led UDF opposition disrupting proceedings. Their demand was clear: the resignation of Devaswom Minister V N Vasavan amid the ongoing Sabarimala gold plating row.
Leader of the Opposition, V D Satheesan, brought to the fore accusations against the Left-controlled Travancore Devaswom Board. The call for Vasavan's resignation stemmed from previous refusals to address the issue in the assembly.
Tensions escalated when Speaker A N Shamseer dismissed opposition demands, leading UDF members to besiege the Speaker's podium with banners and slogans accusing the ruling party and TDB of corruption. The session was suspended as a result, all against the backdrop of allegations involving missing pedestal parts and gold reductions at the temple.
