In a significant political maneuver, Senior Congress figure Ashok Gehlot on Wednesday visited the residence of Bihar's Leader of Opposition, Tejashwi Yadav. The meeting aimed at mitigating minor 'friendly fights' arising within the Mahagathbandhan coalition as the assembly polls approach. Accompanied by state Congress incharge Krishna Allavaru, Gehlot's visit underlined efforts to iron out intra-alliance differences.
Addressing the media in Patna, Gehlot clarified that any perceived conflicts within the Mahagathbandhan over seat allocation are routine in vast coalitions. 'In alliances like the Mahagathbandhan, disputes over a few seats are common. Our focus is a united front against the BJP and JD(U),' he stated. The Congress leader reiterated the coalition's solidarity despite differences over candidate placements in some constituencies.
Tejashwi Yadav, echoing Gehlot's sentiments, reassured the press of unity within the Mahagathbandhan, promising answers to lingering questions soon. The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) has already unveiled its list of candidates, spotlighting overlapping nominations with the Congress. Despite these overlaps, potential compromises promise to preserve the alliance's integrity as it readies for a formidable challenge against the NDA in the November elections.
