A major electoral scandal has emerged in Karnataka's Aland assembly constituency, where a Special Investigation Team (SIT) has unearthed a plot to delete nearly 7,000 votes during the 2023 elections.

Sources within the Criminal Investigation Department revealed that suspects were paid approximately Rs 80 per deleted vote, with the majority of these deletions targeting Congress 'Dalit and minority' votes. The revelation came after Congress representative B R Patil, alongside Priyank Kharge, reported the scheme led by a data center linked to opposing party figures.

In response, state authorities established an SIT under Additional Director General of Police B K Singh to probe the matter further, with potential arrests pending. The investigation continues amidst allegations of BJP involvement, despite denials from local party leaders.
