In a press conference at Tilak Bhavan, Congress leader Sachin Sawant confronted the Maharashtra government over its tardy transfer of the Palghar sadhus lynching case to the CBI, a move that took three years. He accused the BJP of exploiting Central agencies for political gains.
Sawant alleged that the BJP had used incidents like the Palghar mob lynching and actor Sushant Singh Rajput's case to tarnish the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government. He questioned why the state delayed transferring the Palghar case after announcing its decision in 2022 but completing formalities only in 2025.
Sawant further challenged the BJP regarding its new state headquarters in Mumbai, scrutinizing the land transfer process and its financial aspects. He called for clarification from the state government and the BMC on this matter.
