Kerala's Political Tug-of-War Over the PM SHRI Scheme

Kerala's political landscape is currently under scrutiny as the Communist Party of India (CPI) raises concerns over the state's agreement to the Centre's PM SHRI scheme. The discontent reflects a deeper political dilemma within the ruling Left Democratic Front (LDF).

Fisheries Minister Saji Cheriyan stated the issue would be addressed politically, highlighting strong objections from the CPI. General Education Minister V Sivankutty engaged the CPI leadership to assure them of the rationale behind the state's decision.

Despite ongoing dialogues, including a meeting between Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and CPI state secretary Binoy Viswam, tensions remain unresolved. Meanwhile, the CPI continues to question the move, citing their opposition to the union government's educational policies.
