Speculation is rife about the potential inclusion of former Indian cricket captain Mohammad Azharuddin in the Telangana Cabinet. The possibility, however, remains unconfirmed as Telangana PCC President Bomma Mahesh Kumar Goud neither confirmed nor denied the reports, saying, "It may be possible."
Currently, the cabinet comprises 15 members, including Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, with no minority representation. As such, there remains room for three more appointments. Azharuddin, if inducted, would be the first from the minority community to serve in the cabinet under Revanth Reddy's leadership.
Appointed as a Member of the Legislative Council under the Governor's quota by the Telangana government, Azharuddin's political journey is pending further approval from Governor Jishnu Dev Varma. Previously, he unsuccessfully contested from the Jubilee Hills Assembly constituency in 2023.
