Jharkhand Bandh Wanes Amid Lukewarm Response

The Jharkhand BJP's 12-hour bandh, aimed at protesting an alleged baton charge on tribals, received a lukewarm response across three districts on Wednesday. Schools, offices, and businesses continued operations as usual, while normal vehicular movement was observed, according to officials.

BJP supporters attempted to enforce the bandh through rallies but were unsuccessful, stated Amit Renu, West Singhbhum's Superintendent of Police. The bandh, active from 6 am to 6 pm in West Singhbhum and Seraikela-Kharsawan districts, protested the alleged police action against tribals in Chaibasa town earlier in the week.

Authorities reported no significant disturbances or violence, with traffic largely unaffected. Despite BJP claims of success, the bandh's impact was negligible, especially in Seraikela-Kharsawan, where local traffic and buses operated normally, according to Mukesh Kumar Lunayat, the district's SP.
