The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has alleged that the Congress kept quiet about two deadly attacks on Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel orchestrated by the Muslim League in 1939. The incidents had been buried to avoid confronting uncomfortable truths, according to BJP sources.
Drawing attention to the events on the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Patel, and coincidentally, the 41st death anniversary of Indira Gandhi, the BJP stated that 34 out of 57 accused were convicted, with two receiving death sentences. The ruling party claims that Congress historians erased the event from textbooks and archives.
The BJP has criticized the Congress for allegedly choosing silence over confrontation. The ruling party recalls Patel's leadership during tumultuous times, highlighting that he faced multiple challenges in unifying princely states, combating both British colonial rule and internal betrayal.
