Sriprakash Jaiswal, a veteran Congress leader and former Union minister, has died at age 81 following a cardiac arrest. The incident occurred on Friday, leading to widespread condolences across the political spectrum.
Jaiswal's health deteriorated in Kidwai Nagar, necessitating urgent medical intervention. Initially admitted to a local nursing home, he was subsequently transferred to the Cardiology Hospital, where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.
Born in 1944 in Kanpur, Jaiswal maintained enduring ties with his hometown. His political career was marked by his tenure as Minister of State for Home Affairs and later as Coal Minister during the UPA regime under Manmohan Singh. Jaiswal also led the Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee from 2000 to 2002.
