Goa's Zilla Panchayat Elections Set for December Showdown

The State Election Commission of Goa announced that elections for all 50 zilla panchayats will occur on December 20, with the vote count slated for December 22.
During a press conference, State Election Commissioner Menino D'Souza revealed the schedule, stating that nominations will be accepted from December 1, with a closing date of December 9. The scrutiny will take place on December 10, and candidates have until December 11 to withdraw their nominations.
With 8,68,637 eligible voters split between North and South Goa, the elections are poised as a major political event, drawing participation from key parties like the BJP, Congress, AAP, GFP, and RGP. The maximum expenditure allowed for candidates is set at Rs 5 lakh.
