CPI(M) MLA Kanathil Jameela has passed away at the age of 59, leaving behind a legacy of dedicated public service. The legislator, known for her tenure as president of the Kozhikode District Panchayat, died following a battle with a cancer-related illness.

Jameela, who had been undergoing treatment in a private Kozhikode hospital, was cherished by her constituents in the Koilandy constituency. Elected to the state assembly in 2021, her political journey was rooted deeply in grassroots initiatives and public welfare.

Born to T K Ali and T K Mariam in Kuttiyadi, Kozhikode, Jameela is survived by her husband Abdul Rahman, a son, and a daughter. Her body is to be transported to her residence for the final rites, which will be attended by family and party leaders.
