Maharashtra's Chief Minister, Devendra Fadnavis, has criticized the State Election Commission's decision to delay local body elections, calling it 'unfair' to candidates who've completed nominations. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Monday slammed the State Election Commission (SEC) for postponing local body elections, accusing it of unfairly impacting candidates who had already completed the nomination process. Fadnavis argued that the decision, spurred by court petitions, is legally unjustified and undermines the electoral process.
The Chief Minister specifically pointed to Nilanga in Latur district, where the election process was already finalized, yet was halted due to legal challenges. He expressed concern that such actions disregard the efforts of candidates who followed protocol and completed their campaign activities.
Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde echoed Fadnavis's sentiments, lamenting the unprecedented halt in the election process once campaigning had nearly concluded. Meanwhile, tensions between BJP and Shiv Sena in Sindhudurg add another layer of complexity to the political landscape, with accusations and discord threatening coalition harmony.
