As local body polls approach in Sindhudurg, political tensions have intensified between Maharashtra's allies, the BJP and Shiv Sena. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis emphasized his support for ethical conduct. He expressed concerns about the current situation involving brothers Nilesh Rane of Shiv Sena and BJP Minister Nitesh Rane, urging parties to introspect post-elections.
The conflict escalated when Sindhudurg police registered an FIR against Shiv Sena's Nilesh Rane, accusing him of entering a BJP supporter's home illegally. Rane claimed to uncover cash meant for voter distribution ahead of the elections. Meanwhile, Nitesh Rane dismissed these allegations, asserting that political workers may have legitimate cash holdings from their business endeavors.
Fadnavis reiterated his stance on backing only those who conduct themselves well, irrespective of party affiliation. He acknowledged the unfavorable circumstances of the Rane brothers' conflict. In contrast, Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut praised Nilesh Rane for highlighting the cash distribution issue in Konkan, although he criticized the legal action against him.
