The commencement of the 18th Bihar Legislative Assembly took place on Monday, with newly elected members ceremoniously taking oaths of office. The process was overseen by pro tem Speaker Narendra Narayan Yadav, who facilitated the ceremony in multiple languages including Hindi, English, Urdu, Sanskrit, and Maithili.

Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, representing the Tarapur assembly seat, was the first to affirm his oath, followed closely by Vijay Kumar Sinha, marking his fourth term for Lakhisarai. Notably, Prem Kumar, a veteran BJP leader, appeared to be a prime contender for the Speaker's role, with the election set for Tuesday.

During the session, languages varied, with some members opting for English and others for Urdu, reflecting the diversity of the assembly. The five-day session promises crucial highlights including the Governor's address and a substantial focus on the second supplementary budget.
