In a groundbreaking move signaling a potential thaw in ethnic tensions, Meitei MLA Yumnam Khemchand Singh visited a Kuki relief camp in Manipur's Ukhrul district on Monday. This visit marks the first of its kind since violence erupted between the Kuki and Meitei communities earlier this year.

Singh, a BJP representative from Singjamei, assessed the living conditions at the Litan Sareikhong camp and appealed for harmony as the festive season approaches. "With Christmas approaching, we should all pray for the return of peace in the state," Singh told camp residents.

State BJP vice president H Shimray emphasized that Singh's visit is an effort to restore peace and rebuild inter-community relationships. Despite differences, Singh urged elders to consider the future of their children as the state works towards healing and reconciliation.
