The lower house of Parliament is poised to address election reforms, particularly the controversial Special Intensive Revision (SIR) initiated by the Election Commission of India (ECI) in various states. The opposition, especially the Congress party, has been clamoring for this discussion, citing significant discrepancies in the voter lists.

Congress Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha is expected to kick off the debate, voicing criticism against SIR and alleging that the government is exploiting the process to eliminate legitimate voters. In a pointed statement, Rahul Gandhi labeled SIR as an 'imposed tyranny,' criticizing the alleged cumbersome voter verification process and highlighting the tragic deaths of 16 Booth Level Officers (BLOs) linked to stress.

The debate will unfold over 10 hours as the government prepares its rebuttal. Concurrently, BJP MPs Radha Mohan Singh and Virendra Singh are set to present committee reports on defense grant actions, while UPPL MP Joyanta Basumatary and BJP's Rodmal Nagar will discuss water resource management issues. This marks the beginning of Parliament's Winter Session, set to end on December 19.
