Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has issued a stern warning to legislators against the indiscriminate mention of the state's flagship Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahini scheme during discussions on unrelated issues in the legislative assembly.
The warning came after repeated references to the scheme, including by BJP MLA Abhimanyu Pawar, led to irritation for Fadnavis, prompting him to intervene during a session. Fadnavis indicated that such behavior could lead to strict consequences and should be avoided.
The scheme, which provides financial assistance to economically disadvantaged women, was only to be discussed in relevant contexts, Fadnavis insisted, as he asked members to stop using it for casual political references during Question Hour.
