In a heated address, Kerala's Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan accused the Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) of fostering a political alliance with the controversial Islamist group Jamaat-e-Islami. His remarks came during the final days of campaigning for the second phase of local body polls in north Kerala.
Vijayan warned the Indian Union Muslim League, a crucial UDF ally, against collaborating with Jamaat-e-Islami, suggesting that such an alliance would be detrimental to both the party and the country. He criticized the UDF leadership for allegedly attempting to cleanse Jamaat-e-Islami's image despite its contentious past.
Further fueling the political discourse, Vijayan rebuked both the RSS and Jamaat-e-Islami for spreading misinformation. He reinforced CPI(M)'s strategic stance against communalism and denied any alignment with the RSS, dismissing allegations as baseless.
