In a surprising political development, Congress MLA H A Iqbal Hussain announced on Saturday that Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar is likely to take over as Chief Minister on January 6. Hussain, a loyal supporter, insists the current Chief Minister, Siddaramaiah, should make way for Shivakumar, offering him a shot at the top position.
This announcement fuels speculation and draws attention to internal party dynamics, as Hussain assigns a 99% probability to Shivakumar's ascendancy. Despite uncertainty around the date's significance, he believes it to be auspicious, stating, 'It can either be January 6 or 9.'
Simultaneously, the political scene is further complicated by V Somanna, Union Minister of State for Railways and BJP MP, who advocates for Home Minister G Parameshwara's candidacy. At a Tumakuru event, Somanna noted the community's desire for Parameshwara's leadership, emphasizing conduct over luck in determining political fate.
