Campaigning for the upcoming municipal and panchayat elections in Arunachal Pradesh concluded on Saturday, as preparations gear up for the December 15 polls. The State Election Commissioner, Rinchin Tashi, confirmed that polling will commence at 7 am and conclude at 4 pm on Monday.
With 63 candidates already elected uncontested, significant victories have been secured by the ruling BJP, including 58 unopposed wins in zilla parishad constituencies. Additionally, 5,037 BJP candidates for gram panchayat member seats have been declared elected without contest.
Approximately 8,31,648 voters are eligible to participate in the elections, which will utilize electronic voting machines for municipal polls and ballot boxes for panchayat elections. The counting of votes is scheduled for December 20, marking a significant electoral event for the state.
