The Nashik Municipal Corporation elections reported a 39.64% voter turnout by 3:30pm on Thursday, according to officials. The city is one of 29 undergoing civic body elections, with vote counting expected to occur on Friday.
In the Malegaon Municipal Corporation within the district, voter turnout was slightly higher at 46.18%, officials noted.
Controversy marred the polling process when a man was detained for allegedly distributing money. While Shiv Sena supporters accused him of working for the BJP, officials stated the situation is under investigation.
