In a significant development during the Mumbai civic polls, the Konkan division of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has called on the State Election Commission (SEC) to disqualify two candidates for allegedly misrepresenting themselves as being endorsed by the RSS.

The RSS claims that candidates Vaishali G and Prashant G, contesting from wards 118 and 122 respectively, falsely proclaimed themselves as "RSS-backed," which the organization denies. The candidates, affiliated with the Desh Janhit Party, allegedly used unauthorized endorsements in their campaign, misguiding voters.

Vitthal Kamble, head of the RSS Konkan division, emphasized that the RSS, as a cultural organization, does not support any political entity or individual, and such false assertions could confuse the electorate. The organization has demanded that the SEC take robust legal measures against the candidates, including revoking their candidacies, for breaching the electoral code.
