Uttar Pradesh BJP president Pankaj Choudhary on Thursday characterized Bahujan Samaj Party chief Mayawati's choice to contest forthcoming elections independently as a personal and internal decision.

In response to Mayawati's announcement that the BSP would abstain from forming alliances in the upcoming polls, Choudhary remarked to reporters in Lucknow that decisions regarding partnerships are solely for Mayawati and her party to determine.

Choudhary, speaking after a gathering of BJP officials, emphasized efforts on enhancing the reach and visibility of governmental welfare schemes. Meanwhile, Mayawati, marking her 70th birthday, reiterated BSP's decision to contest autonomously, citing limited past success in alliances as a key reason.
