In a defiant speech following the recent civic elections in Mumbai, Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray expressed hope for installing a party mayor in the city. Despite the BJP-Sena alliance's victory, Thackeray criticized the BJP, stating the Marathi people would not forgive what he described as a betrayal.
Thackeray emphasized that the BJP's belief in defeating Shiv Sena (UBT) was unfounded, citing the party's 65-seat win in the BMC elections as evidence of their enduring presence. He asserted that despite the BJP's efforts, loyalty could not be purchased.
In the election results, the BJP secured 89 seats, their ally Shiv Sena 29, and Thackeray's faction 65 out of 227. Meanwhile, Congress, allied with Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi, garnered 24 seats, with other parties like AIMIM and NCP also winning some representation. Thackeray remains resolute that the political battle for Mumbai's leadership is ongoing.
