The recent civic body elections witnessed a robust performance by the BJP, leading NCP working president Supriya Sule to emphasize the necessity for the Maha Vikas Aghadi to contest as a united front. Sule reflected on past electoral trends and called for a thorough analysis by the Opposition.
The BJP emerged as the dominant force, capturing 1,425 seats out of 2,869 across 29 municipal corporations, leaving the Shiv Sena and NCP with significantly fewer victories. However, Sule lauded the Shiv Sena (UBT)'s performance in Mumbai despite their internal challenges.
Urging a micro-level introspection, Sule reiterated her stance on collaborative contests, pointing out historical victories achieved through unity. Additionally, she raised questions about the reliability of EVMs, advocating for clearer electoral processes. The call for unity within the Maha Vikas Aghadi remains more pertinent than ever.
