In a bid to resolve the ongoing standoff in the Lok Sabha, Speaker Om Birla convened a pivotal meeting on Tuesday. Present were Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju and Congress leaders Gaurav Gogoi and K C Venugopal.
The crux of the dispute stems from an unpublished book by former army chief M M Naravane. This has triggered tensions and disrupted proceedings in the lower house.
Insiders suggest there is a possibility of the house resuming operations by 2 pm, contingent on the outcome of today's discussions aimed at achieving consensus among the parties involved.
