M V Govindan of CPI(M) accused Congress of aligning with communal forces, claiming the party is attempting to sanitize Jamaat-e-Islami's image. This accusation comes amidst the Congress-led UDF's Pudhu Yuga Yatra campaign, which CPI(M) believes whitewashes extremist groups.

Opposition Leader V D Satheesan fired back, accusing CPI(M) of having longstanding ties with Jamaat-e-Islami. He alleged that Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and others benefited electorally from the group's support, calling out the ruling party for having a double standard approach to communal alliances.
