In a significant political development, Congress MLA Deen Dayal Bairwa of Dausa has initiated a breach of privilege notice against a tehsildar accused of misconduct during an anti-encroachment operation. The notice has been submitted to Rajasthan Assembly Speaker Vasudev Devnani, who acknowledged it and assured suitable action.
Bairwa contends that the tehsildar verbally abused him on February 2 when he attempted to halt the anti-encroachment drive on purported government land. He emphasized that such actions not only insult him but disrespect all 200 MLAs and the Speaker of the Assembly.
The Privilege Committee of the Assembly will examine the matter, with potential for the tehsildar and related officials to be summoned for questioning. Should the tehsildar be found culpable, penalties such as suspension or salary deductions could be enforced. Protests have also been conducted by the Congress in the Assembly over this issue.
