The Karnataka High Court on Tuesday dismissed the defamation case brought by the BJP against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. The case, filed in 2023 under the BJP regime in Karnataka, stemmed from a 'corruption rate card' released by Congress accusing the BJP of significant irregularities.

Rahul Gandhi, along with then Karnataka Leader of Opposition Siddaramaiah and Congress state president D K Shivakumar, were accused by the BJP of conspiring to damage the party's image with baseless claims. Siddaramaiah is now the Chief Minister, and Shivakumar serves as his deputy in Karnataka.

Challenging the defamation suit, Gandhi approached the Karnataka High Court, arguing that the continuance of the proceedings would constitute an abuse of the legal system. The bench of Justice S Sunil Dutt Yadav upheld his petition, effectively quashing the case.
