P K Sasi, a prominent CPI(M) leader and former MLA, has resigned as the Chairman of the Kerala Tourism Development Corporation (KTDC), citing personal reasons. This move has sparked widespread speculation that the United Democratic Front (UDF) is considering him for the upcoming Assembly election.
Sasi, who once represented the Shornur constituency, was demoted to the branch committee following allegations of financial misconduct. Despite his resignation from KTDC, Sasi maintains his positions within CPI(M) and related trade unions, dismissing rumors of departing the party.
While CPI(M) officials, including Palakkad district secretary E N Suresh Babu, downplay the chances of Sasi leaving, they claim that Congress and UDF are fabricating stories. Babu insists on evidence for any alleged discussions between Sasi and UDF. Sasi also missed an LDF rally, citing health issues as reported by senior leader A K Balan.
